The programme focuses on improving the quality of social services, increasing access to services, and helping to build national and sub-national capacities to provide low-cost, high-impact interventions for all children, especially the most vulnerable.

How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Specialist (Emergencies) will provide leadership and support to the sub-national and national child protection coordination structures within the Humanitarian Cluster Approach. To fulfill this function, the Specialist is needed to secure the overall cluster coordination of child protection responses at the national level in their effort to respond to the current multi-hazard humanitarian crisis, aggravated by the impact of COVID-19.

  • Support to programme development and planning
  • Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  • Technical and operational support to programme implementation
  • Networking and partnership building
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Masters or higher) in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in planning and management of child protection in emergencies related areas is required.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
