Family Support Trust (FST)

Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for, among other duties:

  • Updating and maintaining the organisation social media presence, including creating content, scheduling Facebook updates, Instagram posts and stories and Twitter interactions;
  • Planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter;
  • Drafting, distributing and pitching news releases, media alerts and other stories;
  • Drafting and editing event and opinion blogs for impacting the organisation’s website;
  • Assisting with the design of flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by the organisation;
  • Assisting with outreaching to the community organisations, public and development partners with the message about the organisation and its mission;
  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications – Narrating the FST story using photography and videography;
  • Working closely with the Programme team to ensure that relevant program materials such as Most Significant Change Stories, donor reports, proposals, factsheets, info-graphs newsletters etc. are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels;
  • Assisting the Programme Team in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.

FST Brand and Communications

  • Ensure timely and quality production of advocacy and branding materials;
  • Assist in developing donor visit schedules/brochures, donor gifts and cards etc;
  • Support preparation of background materials, briefs and information kits for visiting donors and high profile guests/visitors;
  • Events/campaigns: Assist in organizing and generating public support for special events and campaigns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, communications, journalism, public relations or a related field;
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space;
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Proficiency in Word Press highly desired;
  • Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus;
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral Ability to communicate in a professional manner;
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Knowledge of other languages/dialects is an asset;
  • Candidates with basic design and layout skills are an added advantage;
  • The candidate should have high level of integrity, accountability, and punctuality and be willing to work beyond normal working hours;
