Consultant to produce project documentation on the impact of a 5 year project that is being implemented in 2 districts of Matabeleland South (Umzingwane and Insiza) whose focus is on the provision of a multi sectoral approach in preventing and responding to Gender Based Violence (GBV)
Emthonjeni Women’s Forum (EWF) is an organisation whose thrust is on women’s constitutional rights focusing more on gender-based violence, socio economic rights and women’s participation in developmental issues in their communities. This is done through building the capacity of women and information dissemination on women’s rights. EWF is currently operating in Matabeleland North and South. EWF is seeking consultancy to enhance the impact, clarify the current position and define the future direction of the organization. These plans should guide the organization policy operations.
Background to the Consultancy
Emthonjeni Women’s’ Forum is conducting a gender equality intervention titled ‘Take Action! An Integrated Approach towards reducing Gender Based Violence in Insiza and Umzingwane District. This intervention seeks raise awareness, advocacy, counselling of survivors as well as perpetrators of GBV. The focus being the empowerment of women and young women to take action against GBV whilst men are capacitated to become agents of change against GBV, leading to a community that is intolerant to GBV. The project is being implemented in 9 wards of Insiza and 5 wards of uMzingwane targeting women as primary targets and men and duty bearers as secondary targets. Hence, EWF is looking for a consultant to document and develop a case study of the intervention. Tasks under this consultancy The consultancy will be expected to document the project working closely with EWF staff and structures on the ground.
The Consultancy will be responsible for the following deliverables: Document how the programme has been operating since inception; Document testimonials from government officials, traditional leaders and other stakeholders on changes brought by the intervention; Document testimonials from the primary and secondary targets; Synthesize and highlight the successes, lessons, opportunities, and gaps of the integrated approach to reducing GBV; Submission of the draft case study document for EWF for review and input; Submission of a detailed case study for printing of approximately 15 pages profiling project outline, lessons learnt best practices and most significant change stories .
The detailed assignment timelines will be agreed on with the successful candidate.
Technical and Financial proposals not exceeding 3 pages should be submitted to EWF including a resume of not more than 3 pages . A sample of similar work done previously should be submitted.
Qualifications, Experience, and a sample of work
- Advanced degree in Social Science or related field with experience in development work.
- A qualification in women’s rights and gender studies will be an added advantage.
- More than 5 Years’ experience in related work.
