Location: Harare

The employer is a locally registered non-governmental organization in the human rights and governance sector. The organisation has operated for more than 20 years in Zimbabwe and over the years has been contributing towards attainment of its vision by working with local communities, partners and stakeholders across Zimbabwe. The organisation is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the post of Finance and Administration Manager to lead the Finance and Administration unit and offer reliable support to the Director.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the accounting, financial and administrative management functions of the organisation

Tasks

  • Prepare plans, budgets and financial forecasts for the organisation;
  • Prepare financial statements in areas of income, expenses and cash flow;
  • Manage procurement process in line with procurement policies;
  • Develop management and financial reporting systems;
  • Set up and maintain a computerized accounting system for the management of programme expenditures;
  • Produce final accounts and audit schedules;
  • Reconciliation of banks, cash, debtors and creditors statements;
  • Safeguard all assets owned by the organisation including maintenance of a comprehensive register;
  • Ensure that all payments are in line with procedure, timeframes and according to budget;
  • In consultation with the National Director, negotiate terms and conditions of agreements i.e. hiring of motor vehicles and other equipment essential in implementing the organisation’s aims and objectives as necessary;
  • Manage Risk and ensure full Compliance to statutes and grant conditions;
  • Monitors personnel development and manpower needs of the organization;
  • Maintains staff records and the conditions of service manual;
  • Administers salaries and benefits policy of the organization;
  • Maintains staff performance management systems;
  • Assists in monitoring staff discipline;
  • Carry out other administrative duties as will be assigned by the Director

  • Minimal

Physical Nature Of The Job

  • Minimal and may involve a lot of sitting and working outside normal hours

Minimum Education

  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Studies, CIS or CIMA;
  • A Professional Course in Finance or Accounting will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in financial management at a senior level;
  • Experience in a non-profit making organisation;
  • Experience in management of donor funding in a multi-funder environment.

Specific Skills /Qualities

  • Good presentation, communication and analytical skills;
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems;
  • Computer literate and sound knowledge of accounting software;
  • Integrity, professionalism and ethical approach;
  • Good public & industrial relations in dealing with staff and other stakeholders;
  • Confidence.
