Job Overview

CARE International in Zimbabwe is recruiting for livelihoods, food aid and resilience project targeting Buhera and Mutare Districts (Manicaland Province) and Chivi and Zaka Districts (Masvingo Province). Takunda, which means “we have overcome” in Shona, is a 5 year USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance program led by CARE in a consortium. Its aim is to increase on-farm and off-farm incomes, improve nutrition, and work with women, men, girls and boys to build resilience to shocks and stressors. Job Description

To oversee, and coordinate WASH project activities in Buhera, Mutare, Chivi and Zaka districts and contribute towards achievement of project objectives and targets

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans for the WASH operational systems and procedures for the district and shares with staff and District stakeholders
  • Develops the global working plan for the district in line with the budget and shares the details with the Project Manager
  • Produces technical guidelines for implementation of WASH components (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities)
  • Conducts training for staff and stakeholders on project concepts, technologies and methodologies
  • Generates reports as per donor guidelines and submits to the Field Supervisor
  • Conducts day to day process monitoring of project activities
  • Conducts independent and joint (with DWSSC) field visits, verifications and monitoring of project activities
  • Identifies gaps and organizes capacity building of project stakeholders to support and / or implement the project

  • Coordinates the development of district specific budgets in line with project budget and submits to Field Supervisor
  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders by sharing project information and activities
  • Meets with District Water Supply and Sanitation Committees (DWSSC) and share the project details / activities as per project plan in line with the budget


  • Degree in Water Engineering/Public Health or equivalent
  • Diploma in Water and Sanitation is added advantage
  • 4-6 Years working experience in Water and Sanitation or other related field
  • Proficiency in computer skills including experience of MS Word, Excel, MS Office Project,
  • Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the importance of gender and youth issues in food security programming.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of Gender Equity and Diversity, as evidenced in previous positions / programming.
