Gateway Zimbabwe is an associative formation of organizations working together on social cohesion and community engagement to contribute to re-weaving and enlivening the social fabric of Zimbabwe. Our aim is to help nurture healthy and sustainable communities. Gateway Zimbabwe is an integrated set of program elements (multi-stakeholder convenings, leadership fellowship, and innovation) built upon a set of foundational design principles that enable and foster emergence and self-organization.

Summary of Role

The Harvesting and Archiving Intern will assist with compiling the story of the journey of Gateway Zimbabwe from inception to date, including photographs, videos, graphic harvests, press coverage and online articles, posts, documentaries, transcripts and reports. The Intern will develop a comprehensive digital archiving system, organize and populate it with the existing content and build internal staff capacity to manage the digital archive. Detailed and thorough tagging will be essential to the utility of the archive. The Intern will have an opportunity to learn about Gateway Zimbabwe’s unique approach to community engagement, innovative leadership and sustainable transformation

The Intern will bring the following skills

  • Extensive archiving and data mining experience;
  • An understanding of our audiences and how we approach our various products, publications, and storytelling processes;
  • Experience working with experienced graphic designers, writers and social media strategists

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop digital archiving system for Gateway Zimbabwe for all story assets;
  • Archive the existing story assets comprised of but not limited to: photographs, videos, newspaper links, interviews, reports, interviews, evaluations, data documents and presentations;
  • Train Gateway broader learning and harvesting team on use, and management of the archiving system;
  • Data mining as required from archive content;
  • Link the archive with online collaborative work spaces used by Gateway Zimbabwe


  • Diploma or Bachelors’ degree in library sciences or archival studies;
  • Ideal candidate will have cataloging experience;
  • Must have organizational skills and be detail-oriented;
  • Must be computer literate and adaptable to new software systems
