Zimbabwe Horticulture Alliances for Action Platform
The International Trade Centre (ITC) Alliances for Action, is implementing a horticulture export project in Zimbabwe under the United Kingdom Partnerships (UKTP) Programme, funded by the British Government through the Department of International Development (DFID).
The Zimbabwe component of the programme is focusing on promoting smallholder farmer (SHF) participation in export horticulture. The Zimbabwe UKTP has created a Value Chain Alliance under a WhatsApp group, Horticulture Zim with the purpose of sharing ideas and linking smallholder farmers (SHF) and exporters/Lead Firms to access information on e-extension, linkages with various horticulture players and profitable export markets. The WhatsApp Group has however grown rapidly and exceeded 250 members prompting the creation of another WhatsApp group which is almost oversubscribed now.
ITC is, therefore, looking for a qualified and experienced IT Expert/Web Developer that can migrate the two WhatsApp Groups to a web-based application which has all the strength of WhatsApp but addressing most of its weaknesses.
The consultancy will be undertaken in two phases:
- The first phase consisting of a website and accompanying mobile application that has some knowledge management capability and will enhance the communication and sharing of information and ideas among group members.
- The second phase will consist of a more sophisticated platform which may include an eCommerce enables website that will allow farmers or any other player to transact safely using most forms of electronic transactions.
The IT Expert/Web Developer should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in IT solutions development, Mobile App Development (IOS and Android), and web design, development and maintenance.
Experience in developing a similar web application will be an added advantage.
