(Newly created Executive role)
This senior leadership role reports to the Group Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate shall be responsible for overall profit and loss responsibility for mining operation both open pit and underground. The role is responsible for ensuring the company is run in accordance with the Group strategy, policies and procedures in accordance with the applicable Zimbabwean laws and regulations. The major asset owned by the company is a Gold Mine. Substantial Shareholder and investment support is given. The role will require oversight of operation, developmental projects and initiatives identified in the company and group. In addition, a strong focus on continuous improvement throughout the operation and group will be required in the role.
The free cash flow generated from the operation is a foundation for group growth and development, the role will therefore require full accountability for the budget and delivery against budgets of production, costs and ultimately the free cash flows generated by the entity. You must be technically savvy, financially astute people leader that drives results. The position is based between the Harare Head Office and the Mining operation(s) with time varying between these and other sites as may be required.
The ideal applicant with tertiary education in a recognized mining engineering, minerals processing, or geology, metallurgy discipline. An MBA/MBL or alike would be a distinct advantage. You must have displayed a successful track record in leading the management of complex minerals processing and mining operations. This role requires a proven mining executive with appropriate training through the ranks achieving senior status with a recognized mining house. A technically savvy, financially astute people leader that will drive results across the business is desired.
Our client is a significant player in the mining sector and offers a remuneration package to attract the most eligible executive from within or from outside Zimbabwe payable at the correct rate to attract the skill required for this senior position.
