Job Description

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will be responsible for ensuring adequate monitoring of the project in line with donor requirements while adding value and improving programming through timely provision of quality monitoring and evaluation information, enabling real-time learning within the project.

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops M&E plan and framework and tools to track results to Project Field Supervisor and shares the endorsed documents with project staff and stakeholders
  • Plans for special studies and assessments such as baseline surveys
  • Develops the database in conjunction with other project staff
  • Develops, adopts and/or adapts relevant data management guidelines for data quality assessment
  • Develops relevant data collection tools and submits to Project Field Supervisor
  • Develops, adopts or adapts relevant data entry templates for CARE and Donor formats
  • Develops or adapts M&E training guidelines
  • Coordinates baseline, endline, midterm and special surveys in consultation with Project Manager
  • Implements data quality checks at various data manipulation stages (tools development, data collection, processing and entry)
  • Conducts training to project staff on project M&E system including use of M&E tools
  • Analyses quantitative and qualitative data to produce information for reports (such as success stories, most significant change, case studies, rolling profiles)
  • Produces M&E progress reports
  • Shares or contributes project learning in internal and external fora, such as project review meetings
  • Contributes project learning to country office initiatives such as development of new programs/projects, profiles, documenting program approaches and interventions


  • Diploma in Development Studies/Public Health or equivalent
  • 4 years working experience in WASH Monitoring and Evaluation or related field
