Tenure: Fixed Term Contract

Main purpose of the job

Higherlife Foundation is seeking to hire an Operations Officer to join our leadership team. The incumbent will be in charge of providing inspired leadership for the operation for STAR Leadership Academy and Simba Education’s lines of business, which involves making important policy and operational decisions, as well as the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinating different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross team learning opportunities;
  • Supervise the supply chain and inventory;
  • Oversight of key business processes to ensure smooth operations;
  • Creating and monitoring projects and oversight of the operations teams and logistics onsite;
  • Analysing and assessing departmental budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and increase efficiencies;
  • Schedule expenditures; analyse variances; initiating corrective actions;
  • Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews;
  • Prepare and complete action plans; implement performance, and productivity trackers;
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations;
  • Work closely with the General Manager and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation;
  • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings;
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices;
  • Provide inter-departmental, operational support particularly for Simba Education.

Qualifications and competencies

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field;
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams, operations and management;
  • Understanding of general finance and budgeting;
  • Financial Management skills;
  • Negotiating skills and stakeholder management;
  • Conflict management skills;
  • Project management skills;
  • Strong documentations and writing skills;
  • Clean Class 4 Drivers licence (is a must).
