Job Purpose

Cassava Smartech is looking for a Payments Officer to join the Sasai Team. The main purpose of the role is to ensure that transactions are reconciled and properly settled across the Cassava payments ecosystem in line with all central banking and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Commercial Degree in Banking and Finance or Accounting
  • A professional qualification is an added advantage
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a back office environment of which two years should be within reconciliation and operations department

Key Result Areas

  • Performs Reconciliations of Payments Accounts of various banks against the Cassava systems or 3rd parties
  • Prepares a weekly consolidated reconciliation Report for management every Monday by collating reconciliations for all bank accounts so as to meet regulatory requirements
  • Tests new products, services and enhancements by doing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure that they are in line with product specifications
  • Performs Post Implementation Review Checks (PIR) after every deployment on the Mobiquity production environment or after a system upgrade to ensure that the system functions normally
  • Resolve queries and other operational issues escalated to Back Office on a daily basis
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports on request from management by extracting the required information from the system
  • Follows up on missing documents by sending emails and interacting with relationship officers on a daily basis to ensure KYC compliance
  • Facilitates proper classification and filing of partner applications and documents to ensure safe keeping and easy retrieval
  • Supervises the maintenance of a Channel user database to ensure easy access to channel user information (addresses, directors details, identifier codes)
  • Follows up with responsible partners (various banks, vendor, internal staff and channels users) by calling and emailing on a daily basis so as to resolve any mismatches
