Job Overview

Magamba Network, Zimbabwe’s trailblazing creative and digital media organisation, is looking for a young, dynamic Project Officer.

We are launching Arts4Change, a brand new project that will use film, music and art to creatively promote accountability. The project will house the Rap2Rep initiative which will mentor urban performance artists to create music that promotes accountability. We are looking for a talented Project Officer who would run the Rap2Rep initiative on a day-to-day basis, oversee personnel, and provide creative input to this vibrant arts project. The individual would report to the Arts4Change Project Coordinator. The individual would need to be skilled in project management, have good interpersonal skills and be passionate about live music, urban culture and youth engagement.

The successful candidate will be a creative and experienced professional with a background in the creative sector as well as competencies in project management, music production and arts mentorship. It is key that the individual is a team player and works well in a collaborative environment.

The candidate should be methodical, well organised and have the ability to manage multiple priorities. This post is being offered on a fixed term contract basis.

Project Management

  • Coordinating the Rap2Rep initiative;
  • Managing and coordinating project logistics;
  • Coordinating recording sessions, album launches and promotional events;
  • Artist liaison and selection;
  • Artist Identification;
  • Building and maintaining a network of artists and mentors;
  • Reporting to the Arts4Change coordinator;
  • Drafting and coordinating the overall project workplan;
  • Liaising with festival heads of departments;
  • Assisting with project promotion and publicity;
  • Liaising with funding partners and sponsors;
  • Providing regular updates and progress reports to Magamba;
  • Ensuring the sustainability of the project through income generation and fundraising;
  • Liaising with service providers;
  • Meeting with the the Arts4Change coordinator for advice on project planning, partnerships and so forth;
  • Create and implement project monitoring frameworks, indicators, target data collection tools, M&E plans;
  • Timeously provide final project narrative report to the Arts4Change coordinator on all activities, outputs and relevant outcome indicators;
  • Ensuring that project runs within budget;
  • Oversee designing of graphics and publicity materials;
  • Create copy for Press Releases for local and national media and build on media contact-list;
  • Keep an archive of press cuttings, adverts clippings and press photos;
  • Organise specific promotional events such as press conferences;
  • Represent the organisation at events and other business development opportunities


  • Undergo any appropriate training as directed by the organisation;
  • Comply with in-house policy, systems and procedures of the organization at all times;
  • Work as part of the team in contributing towards meeting the organisation’s objectives;
  • Manage any staff assigned to work for the project;

The person

  • BA degree in Arts, Humanities or Music degree;
  • Creative and artistic;
  • Proven work experience as a Project Officer;
  • Solid experience with music production and promotion;
  • Good report writing and proposal writing skills;
  • Command of written and spoken English;
  • Good Computers skills;
  • Networking skills;
  • Tech savvy and experience in social media management;
  • Excellent presentation;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Must have self-confidence;
  • Passionate about urban culture and using arts for positive social change
