International Medical Corps is a global humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training, relief and development programs. The International Medical Corps is anticipating a UNICEF funded project on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Response to COVID-19 in Health Care Facilities in Mat South and North Provinces. The International Medical Corps is therefore seeking qualified 2 WASH Officer candidates for this project. The position is contingent upon funding being received from the Donor.

Position Summary

The WASH Officer is expected to oversee tasks related to COVID 19 WASH Emergency Response, coordinate the operation, implementation, and monitoring of the WASH Infrastructure interventions. Communicate with counterparts involved in the project preparation, implementation and evaluation in accordance with the existing regulation of Zimbabwe and Donor requirements.

Job Description

The WASH Officer will be responsible for:

  • Implementing COVID 19 promotion initiatives appropriate to the context and ensuring the technical and social aspects of WASH programming are integrated;
  • Promote participation in all WASH activities and provide regular updates to the supervisor,
  • Provide technical guidance and support to health facilities on all water, sanitation, hygiene promotion related issues, to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness and impact soundness in their implementation and in accordance with International Medical Corps and Donor standards,
  • Facilitate capacity strengthening activities of Health Staff to address key areas of IPC WASH activities,
  • Conduct health facility assessments and develop Bills of Quantities (BoQs),
  • Ensure that the WASH monitoring, data collection and reporting is carried out systematically, properly and timely with quality information ,
  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of the WASH rehabs at Health Care Facilities / Isolation centres.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health or Social Science related field, Civil/Environmental/Water/Public Health Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience.
